New for Dynamics CRM 2015 is the addition of branches in the Business Process Flows. In the past you would need assistance from a developer to be able to add branching and even then it was still a difficult item to tackle. Now Microsoft as added this functionality for you and it as simple as a couple of mouse clicks.
- As with any process flows the first thing that you need to do is create the item to do this go to Settings and then Processes. Once on this page select New button on the upper left portion of the screen and will pop your Create Process box. Name your process and in the Category drop down select Business Process Flow. For this exercise I am going to select the Opportunity entity but this functionality exists with all entities.
- In this scenario will be creating the process flow to run the flow one direction if the account = Alpine Ski House and run the flow another way if the account = any other account name. Now that we created the new process flow you can begin building out the process. The new functionality that exists is on the bottom left hand side of the the stage box and is called Add Branch.
- Once you click on the Add Branch button you will be able to create the IF statement that will determine which route you will take based on answers. My example is IF Account equals “Alpine Ski House (sample) then jump to this stage is Account equals any other Account Name then you skip the Alpine Ski House step and move forward with the process.
- Since Alpine Ski House has a different set of expectations we want to treat them a little differntly and therefore want to complete the additional stage gate that does not appear for other accounts.
